Hello Afro-Nerd Scholar,
I attended the Association of Internet Researchers conference, and they did not disappoint. It was only afterwards that I realised how big this conference was—the fact that the next one is in Brazil makes me grateful that I was here at the time it happened in my student city.
Firstly, I learned that academics know how to have fun; tell me how I’m at a conference playing bumper cars at dinner and singing karaoke while watching people dance to Sean de Paul (or, as I recently learned, it’s actually “Chander Paul”).
Aside from the fun we had at the end, there was so much in-betweens that might be useful to talk about here. I will give you a breakdown of the sessions I attended from my notes and I hope there is a gem or two there for you.
